PURPOSE OF JOB

We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Financial Controller to join our team. As the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in overseeing and managing our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing all finance and accounting functions.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations and the functions of the finance amp; accounts team.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of the general ledger and ensuring that financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Overseeing all financial reporting activities, including the analysis and review of the set monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.
  • Preparation of quarterly management accounts
  • Preparation of monthly reports to Senior Management and quarterly reports to the Board.
  • Preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Preparation of Annual IFRS Financial Statements.
  • External Financial reporting to regulators, Reinsurers and AM Best
  • Credit Risk Management
  • Treasury/ cashflow management.
  • Audit liaison (external, internal, and regulatory audits).
  • Assist with implementation of new accounting/financial reporting standards.
  • Maintaining internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with the statutory/regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the CFO and Senior Management with ad-hoc assignments.
  • Other Financial Controller duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Financial Controller.
  • An Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
  • CPA or an equivalent accounting designation.
  • Previous experience in insurance or reinsurance financial accounting and reporting preferred.
  • Previous experience managing a team with strong leadership skills.
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS and IAS fundamentals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Business acumen, analytical skills and ability to creatively solve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with management and the various departments within the Company.
  • Aptitude to work with multiple software systems.
  • Highly organized, motivated and ability to work with tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
