PURPOSE OF JOB

As an Underwriter for our Property and Casualty Broker Unit, the successful candidate will liaise with brokers to maintain a positive relationship and help educate them on our products and services. They will be responsible for managing retention targets for renewals, underwriting risks, providing customer service to brokers including creating quotations and accurately adding and processing renewals while performing other administrative duties.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creating and processing business quotations for motor, homeowner, commercial and all other property and casualty lines of business within authority limits.
  • Business development activities such as cross selling insurance products to current and potential clients.
  • Liaise with insurance brokers to educate them on our products and services.
  • Collect payments and receipts from customers.
  • Follow up with clients regarding any outstanding documentation, renewals, and payment in a timely and professional manner.
  • Input of documentation on underwriting system for new business, renewals, and changes by way of endorsements etc.
  • Renew policy(s) and process renewal documentation once instructions are received.
  • The issuance of complete and accurate documentation e.g., Policy schedules and endorsements; payment plan agreement for Brokers
  • Ensure that all work is completed and handed in for authorization within the predefined period.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by Management from time to time.

Requirements

  • Professional Accreditation as a Product Advisor and/or Certified Insurance Practitioner (Cert CII or its equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the insurance industry with a minimum of 2 years’ Commercial Underwriting experience
  • Strong ability to translate complex insurance policies and underwriting procedures to sell insurance to customers.
  • Proven ability to learn company’s policies and underwriting procedures.
  • Past work experience producing financial and underwriting reports.
  • Experience using Microsoft suite and Insurance software.
